Somalia’s transition to a green economy is not just an environmental imperative—it’s an economic opportunity. TRIC’s Greenbiz Initiative is at the forefront of this transformation, empowering communities with sustainable enterprises and clean energy solutions. From solar-powered greenhouses to waste-to-resource startups, Greenbiz is redefining how Somalis live, work, and thrive in harmony with the environment.

One of our flagship projects is the deployment of solar-powered greenhouses in Banadir and Galmudug. These greenhouses enable year-round vegetable production, reducing reliance on costly imports and improving food security. Many greenhouses have been installed, benefiting numerous families and creating jobs for local technicians trained in hydroponics and vertical farming.

TRIC also champions renewable energy to power Somalia’s future. We’ve launched mini-grids in rural areas, providing electricity to schools, health clinics, and small businesses. In partnership with USAID, we’re scaling solar energy projects that reduce carbon emissions and create green jobs. Our “Green Grants” program funds innovative startups, such as women-led enterprises transforming plastic waste into building materials.

For urban centers like Mogadishu, TRIC promotes circular economy practices, including composting and recycling initiatives that reduce waste and generate income. By integrating sustainability into every aspect of economic life, Greenbiz is proving that environmental stewardship and economic growth go hand in hand.
